JPG predicts what is here to stay. July 6, 2008

Although, Haute Couture rarely is what one bases his or her wardrobe on, it appears that tights, ankle boots and gray are all elements here to stay. All of these elements can be seen at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2008 Haute Couture Show which seems remarkably grounded in reality. Defined silhouettes, especially crisp shoulder lines and enhanced waists play off of material differentials. Tweeds with smooth tights, soft leather and textured wool pieces all appear fresh and redefined. Tights in colors ranging from electric blue to red to yellow to orange were seen covering the lithe legs of the catwalkers. Overall, this beautiful collection encompasses seemingly contradictory concepts of realism, imagination, structure and fluidity providing satisfaction of varying fashion appetites.

Bluefly July 3, 2008

One of the most recognizable online shopping sites is Bluefly.com. The company originally began as a golf inspired clothing retailer, known as Pivot Corporation and later, Pivot Rules, Inc. In 1998, the seven year old company chose to pursue the path of online luxury brand retailer and at that time, Pivot Rules, Inc. changed its name to Bluefly. Fly meaning quick, nimble and adaptive (like the insect) and Blue because blue is considered a friendly color.

Sweet Meringue July 2, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 3:34 pm

Meringue Boutique is located on First Street in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The bright decor and branding captures the clothing lines and other items that can be found at this hot spot. In a relatively small space, one could spend quite a while discovering all of the chic pieces and other unique products. Meringue also has a great selection of stylish maternity wear and children’s clothing. Some of the pieces are so cute that you might find yourself in the maternity section without even realizing it. Check out their website for a full list of all of the lines they carry. Plus visit the store or the site this weekend and receive 20% off of selected merchandise. Meringue is the only store in Oregon that carries the insanely sweet Tarina Tarantino jewelry line. A NWPosh fave is her Carved Lucite Disc earrings that come in a wide variety of colors.

Arlenis Sosa is a 19 year old Dominican Republic native. She has incredible bone structure, luminescent skin and a smile that could launch a career, a thousand times over. She is clearly a stand out among a sea of pale, eastern bloc blonds. She is featured in the current edition of Vogue.

Vote for Pedro! June 20, 2008

Pedro Garcia is my newest obsession. His shoes are absolutely beautiful, exquisitely made and quite comfortable. Opening your first box of Pedro Garcia shoes will fill you with excitement and you will immediately notice the remarkable craftsmanship. And at that moment, you will know you now truly own an exquisite pair of shoes. It may seem like a lot poetry and puff about shoes (simply, the things you wear on your feet) but it was not until I owned a pair of these shoes that I understood how people can become obsessed with shoes.

I find myself searching for certain styles of Pedro Garcia shoes nearly every night and I can only hope with my diligence, my collection of two becomes much larger in the near future.

Nars Body Glow makes looking tan and sexy easy. Body Glow has the consistency of a luxurious oil and the scent of the best island vacation you have ever had. And in an instant, you can be as tan and feel as good as you did on that vacation. Unlike many other oils, Nars Body Oil sinks right into your skin, improving tone, color and overall, appearance.

It has been awhile… May 27, 2008

Filed under: Art — Ivy Schnepp @ 4:53 pm

I know it has been awhile since my last blog post and I know that my loyal readers, all two of you, have been faithfully checking and re-checking NWPosh for some new info. And alas, I am going to do something a little different. I have a confession to make, I have a problem…I read celebrity gossip sites, like PerezHilton.com and CoutureCandy.com everyday. Some times even a few times every day. It is getting to be a problem. It is getting out of hand. I have decided that my New Year’s Resolution for 2009 will be to not go onto a single celebrity gossip site for the whole year. I just think of all of the time spent wasted looking at other’s lives and I feel pathetic. NO MORE!!

But 2009 is about six months away so until then…I will continue to feast my eyes on the fashion debacles, fashion delights, the annoying, the heinous and the down right out of control…

So, on that note, please someone either kill or maim Lauren Conrad or myself or Heidi Montag or just Conrad and Montag and leave me. Seriously, Conrad has positioned herself as the Nicole Richie of the non-celebrity reality show genre, somehow sadly giving Richie more credibility. She has the same waif-y, child like hands with the dark nail polish that is sooo two or three years ago, the Heidi braids, the over sized jersey dress with (or without tights) and flats and the same raised, slightly hunched shoulders. I can only imagine what kind of spine curvature she is going to have when she is sixty. And they don’t have plastic surgery to fix that one! Her quasi boho look has become her claim to fame (rhymes with maim). Please stop watching her “show” so they will cancel it and I never have to look at her stupid face (and facial expressions again).

And, no. There are no photos to correspond to this blog post. I will not further her infiltration into pop culture.

“It’s hard to believe…” April 20, 2008

“the parents were ugly.” That is the current ad line for the new style of Crocs. Touted as the most comfortable pair of three inch heels, the new styles combine the concept of simplicity and the basic materials of its forerunners with a more stylish design. The Cyprus comes in six different color combinations and it is priced at $49.99. My favorite colors are Scarlet and Bronze.

David Babaii for Wildaid Update

Filed under: Health & Beauty, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 11:59 am

Good news for those of us dying to try the new David Babaii for Wildaid line!  I have been told that the product line should be available for purchase this coming week, the week of 4/20/2008, on the David Babaii for Wildaid website.  Also, the line should be available for purchase in stores, like Target and Ulta, in June of 2008.

David Babaii for Wildaid April 13, 2008

Filed under: Health & Beauty — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:01 pm

David Babaii is not only a super talented hair stylist with a celebrity following that rivals the Rachel Zoe’s and Gucci Westman’s of the world, he also has incredible passion for interests outside of hair and fashion. Babaii has developed (with the assistance of Kate Hudson) a cruelty free hair product line, David Babaii for Wildaid, that donates 10% to Wildaid, a global wildlife conservation organization. Unfortunately, those of us eagerly awaiting the arrival of this line, will have to wait just a little longer. Word is that the official product line launch is scheduled for “May/June 2008″ but is sounds a little flexible to me.
