Fly, Fly Away… December 28, 2007

Lladro was founded in 1953 by Juan, Jose and Vincente Lladro. Their experimental creations using a Moorish furnace and favoring a 17th century style, created a phenomenon that changed the porcelain world forever.
Their latest chandelier is nothing short of a porcelain miracle. Lladro’s new Niagra chandelier is absolutely breathtaking. At first glance, the chandelier appears to be hundreds of suspended butterflies but upon closer look, the winged creatures are fairies.

Paint It Green December 25, 2007

The holidays might prompt you to re-think how “homey” your home is. The more time you get to spend around your house, you might discover you don’t like that China Mist you painted your kitchen. The easiest thing to change about your home’s appearance is a fresh coat of paint. Authentic Home Custom Paint can assist you in your quest for the perfect color and without the pesky paint smell. And…it contains ZERO VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) and is solvent free. So paint green, even if you don’t paint it green.

Start seeing stars… December 23, 2007

Stars have always been a favorite shape of mine. I even have a tattoo of one! Nice to know I am so en vogue as stars are popping up all over the fashion sky. Stars were used as both accenting accessories and major graphic backdrops at Yves St. Laurent. Chanel took a very literal take on Americana with stars and stripes. The last few years, the clothing Chanel has put out has been out of this world but I have to say, YSL’s use of stars are stronger. The placement and overall usage of the stars are crisp and refreshing.

Rock n’ Roll Hoochie Kimikal November 17, 2007

Kimikal is like Ed Hardy meets sexy lingerie. Its rock and roll graphics and tattoo art are strong and sexy.  Kimikal is comprised of sultry bustiers, skimpy dresses, lusty tunics and tanks.  The bustiers may push the envelope but those rocking the night life will stand out amongst the other lovely ladies.  Kimikal can be purchased at the Red  Door Store.

Top Portland Shopping Destinations November 3, 2007

Bridgeport Village

Bridgeport Village is like a mall turned inside out. Despite the wet weather of the Northwest, Bridgeport draws a steady crowd of people everyday. There are several shops like Banana Republic, BCBG, Coach, Cole Haan, The Container Store, Crate & Barrel, Z-Gallery, Eileen Fisher, Patrick James, MAC ( Cosmetics), Tommy Bahama, and many more that line the paths of Bridgeport Village.

It houses the second location of Carl Greve and the only Product store in the Portland area. It also lodges PF Changs, SinJu, and California Pizza Kitchen, among others.   And…Bridgeport Village has the largest Regal Cinema in the state with an IMAX theater.  So you can do your shopping, grab a bite to eat and then see the newest movie that has hit the big screen!

Washington Square

Washington Square has gone through several major changes over the years. Remember when Nordstrom was on the other side of the mall? In addition to the old mall standbys; Sears, Macy’s, and Nordstrom, a new branch of the mall is home to Pottery Barn Kids, Williams Sonoma, Chico’s, Sephora, Abercrombie and Fitch, Bebe and the ever-packed Cheese Cake Factory.

Pioneer Place

There are only a few reasons to go to the Pioneer Place area; Saks Fifth Avenue, Mario’s, Nordstrom, a large Banana Republic and there is a new Carl Greve that is down the street from their previous location.
Unfortunately, at times Pioneer Square is an uncomfortable block to walk with the panhandlers constantly haranguing you for “spare change.”

Beauty Superstores October 15, 2007

Filed under: Health & Beauty, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:04 pm

Major beauty retailers, such as Sephora, Ulta and of the recent, Bath and Beauty Works, are the Shangri-La for beauty product fiends. October 19, Ulta will open its second location in the area at Nyberg Woods, which is fortunately and unfortunately (for my wallet), mere minutes away from my house. Expect a full review of the store by the beginning of next week! As for Bath and Body Works, where I recently went this past weekend….Wow!! Seriously, I had no idea that they carried Frederic Fekkai, Patricia Wexler, Murad and Mustella, some of my favorite lines.

Until this last weekend, I had always assumed that all they carried was fruity soaps and lotions. The foam pump soaps are great but no one woman in her twenties, thirties, forties, plus should want to smell like a combination of strawberry and melon. Come on, go find some real perfume…

Bath and Body works has upped the ante and secured their position amongst the likes of Sephora and Ulta.

Plenty in Hood River September 2, 2007

Plenty
Hood River
Population: 5831
Attraction is the Fruit Loop Tour

You may wonder how a town with a population of 5831 be the starting ground of a store that is reminiscent of a shop you would find in a larger, urban area. The shop is well designed with clean lines that accentuate the clothes, shoes and sunglasses. The owner is knowledgeable and appears to have a keen eye for detail. In addition, he is friendly and helpful.

The store houses high fashion pieces carefully selected, ranging from Tom Ford to. It seems that there were chosen for the quality and style of the pieces and not solely because every young twenty something and teen with big black (or white) Chanel sunglasses and a Monogram Louis Vuitton, real or not, will want it.
