NW Posh Spotted…Headbands January 27, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:34 pm

Check out the new February Elle with Jessica Alba on the cover and not only will you read a fairly fascinating story about the mom to be but also page after page of inspirational Spring clothing and accessories. One running trend that could be seen throughout the mag was headbands. Headbands have been a popular accessory for some time now but it seems they are here to stay. From the Velvet Headband by Marc Jacobs or a hydrangea inspired headband by Sonia Rykiel, buy em’ often and buy em’ plenty…

And please take note of the new Chloe girl, she was the first model NW Posh covered, Ali Stephens. She’s on her way up!

Clarins 1:3, Pure Melt Cleansing Gel

Filed under: Health & Beauty, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:04 pm

A little known fact about Clarins is that they were one of the first major beauty brands that incorporated natural elements into their products. The research staff at Clarins is considered to be one of the best in the industry and other major skin care lines are constantly attempting to “steal” these science and natural minded folks from Clarins. The reason why they get paid the big bucks is because they put out innovative products like the new Clarins cleansing gel. Clarins has recently introduced a new three step cleanser, Pure Melt Cleansing Gel. Apply a thin layer across your face, gently massage the comforting gel and then just rinse away for soft, supple skin.

Quick Fact Friday-Fly like a Sephora…far, far away. January 3, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Health & Beauty, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:24 pm

Sephora, the brand, was born in France in 1969. Little known facts about the origin of the name, Sephora is the Greek word for bird and Sephora was also the name of Moses’ wife in the Bible. The first official Sephora shop did not open until 1996 in Luxembourg. This was quickly followed by a location in Monacco. Currently, there are 518 locations world wide which is impressive considering that it has been only a little over a decade since the first Sephora’s doors opened. But this might be easier than imagined when you are owned by mega conglomerate LVMH, think Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy. Recently, Sephora signed a deal with JCPenny (UGH!) in 2006 and has begun a nationwide roll out, incorporating the chicness that is Sephora with the geekness that is JCPenny. Hmmm…I wonder how that will work out? I can picture it now at the cash register…Here is your $28 Dior Show mascara and your $19.99 faux dog hair jacket.
