Filed under: Fashion, Lifestyle, Travel — Ivy Schnepp @ 12:12 pm

As the 2008 winter blast hits Portland, you may be wishing to return to the normal drizzle or you may be excited that our green landscape has turned into winter wonderland (even if just for a little while).  For those of you prefer the balmy heat and wish to escape the rain and/or snow, an exciting, fashionable escape awaits you.

The Brazil Fashion Cruise is the ultimate fashion meets vacation experience.  Arrive in Santos (near Sao Paulo which seems to produce a model every thirty seconds) and hit the seas for a seven night, eight day cruise aboard a virtual floating fashion show, stopping at beautiful spots, Búzios, Salvador, Maceió, and Ilhéus.  Prices for the chic trip range from $1100-$1500 which includes five meals and fashion shows from eight Brazilian designers!  Visit www.fashioncruise.com.br for more details.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show December 4, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:37 am

So, last night was the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.  The only thing that saved this shoddily filmed debacle masquerading as a fashion show was the beautiful women with extremely beautiful bodies.  It was cheesy.  It was staged.  It stunk.  It reminded me of some fashion version of a Miss America Pageant.

The point that pushed me over the edge to turning off the television was the Pink segment of the “fashion show.”  The Pink division of Victoria’s Secret is geared toward college age women.  It appeared that the clothes were haphazardly put together in a rush by people participating in some nightmare form of Project Runway or America’s Next Top Designer or something… Seriously, I get it.  Young women like cheeky things written on their butt cheeks, like “Juicy” or wait that’s another brand, I mean “Pink” or “Pink Things” or “Sweetie.”  Yes, young women like oversized puffers and arm stockings with no hands and knee highs and scarves.  Jeez!  You HAVE to have a scarf on.  But really, do you really need really small “Sweetie” underwear and then a really large scarf and a tiara and knee highs all on at the same time?!?  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that fashion doesn’t contain elements of randomness but it was the wrong elements put together and they just didn’t add up!

P.S. Heidi Klum is awesome!!
