She’s a Daytripper… July 23, 2008

Filed under: Art — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:12 pm

Most savvy shoppers know the famous Nordstroms’ Anniversary is going on until August 4th.  I visited on Day 2 of the Sale and it was pretty picked through.  Needless to say, an Anniversary Sale shopping experience gone bust, so sad… There were really only a few items that piqued my interest, the See by Chloe Daytripper bag and the Tahari All Weather Belted Trench.

Purple Haze July 16, 2008

Filed under: Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:21 pm

Purple is so hot right now, it’s not even funny. It is everywhere, even fingernails. Chanel’s new nail colors, named in reference to their new boutique on Robertsons Boulevard, are bright, colorful and oh, so fun! Rodeo Drive is a beautiful shade of purple, while bright pink Melrose, yellow L.A. Sunrise and L.A. Sunset, a fun tangerine, round out the collection. Extremely similar are Essie’s Neon Collection, versions based on the same bright palette of purple, pink, yellow and orange. Essie’s take on purple is called Bermuda Shorts while yellow takes the name Bermuda Pants, orange is called Mini Shorts and pink goes by the name Short Shorts.

Model Monday (via Tuesday) -Toni Garrn, part deux July 15, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:04 pm

Back in March, NWPosh wrote about 17 year old Toni Garrn and her quick rise to fame as Calvin Klein’s main girl. Well, there was another girl, too. Suvi Koponen was also picked by Klein to represent his line. For unknown reasons, Garrn has been bumped from top model to CK Jeans co-model with Ali Stephens and Suvi is now the face of Klein’s Spring campaign. Clearly, Klein knows his business, making house hold names out of Kate Moss and Natalia Vodianova, but Garrn’s innocent, expressive, clean face seems to represent the Klein’s ideals far more than Suvi’s slightly mundane face.

Different Strokes July 12, 2008

James Nares’ work appears initially simplistic, his thick, yearning brush stokes swirling and careening on a basic canvas. Yet, there is something entirely more artistic and entirely less simplistic about the colors, the conjured textures and internal aspects of Nares’ strokes. James Nare is a featured artist at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in New York.

LiLo and Monica sitting in a tree… July 11, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 7:22 pm

Not that LiLo has been giving any lately (Hello, saMANtha) but a certain act is referred to in one of Lohan’s leggings from her line, called “Mr. President.” First of all, aren’t leggings on their way out? Haven’t they been on their way out for a while now? Speaking of Out…Lindsey, what do you say? Secondly, the line developed by Lohan is horrendous with a capital H. Two of my favorites and by favorites, I mean the worst of the worst, are featured below. If you wipe your a*& with hundred dollar bills and feel like wasting a few more, Lohan’s line is sold at www.ShopIntiution.com. The line is called 6126 after Marilyn Monroe’s birthday. All I can say is Wow!

Word Is… July 10, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:34 pm

Word is Arelenis Sosa has been approached to be the new face of Lancome. For those keeping track, it has been mere months since the phenom that is Arlenis entered the world of fashion. Lancome seems to prefer variety in the faces they select for their brand, unlike other brands, who stick with one representative or face for several years. Isabella Rosselini had one of the longest stints as Lancome’s face. Previous faces include Daria Werbowy, Kate Winslet, Rosselini’s daughter Electra, Uma Thurman and Devon Aoki.

Dear NWPosh,

Filed under: Fashion, Lifestyle — Ivy Schnepp @ 3:26 pm

Dear NWPosh,

You must help me! It started out innocently enough, I treated myself to a very expensive pair of Louboutins. They were the best shoes ever. So I decided I needed another pair. One pair has turned into 75 pairs over the last six months. I am addicted to really, really nice shoes. I can’t seem to stop buying them. And I can’t stop thinking about shoes. After I buy a pair, I immediately find another pair to lust after. What is wrong with me? What do I do? I have to stop. I spend whole pay checks on shoes. Help!

Sincerely,

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes…

JPG predicts what is here to stay. July 6, 2008

Although, Haute Couture rarely is what one bases his or her wardrobe on, it appears that tights, ankle boots and gray are all elements here to stay. All of these elements can be seen at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2008 Haute Couture Show which seems remarkably grounded in reality. Defined silhouettes, especially crisp shoulder lines and enhanced waists play off of material differentials. Tweeds with smooth tights, soft leather and textured wool pieces all appear fresh and redefined. Tights in colors ranging from electric blue to red to yellow to orange were seen covering the lithe legs of the catwalkers. Overall, this beautiful collection encompasses seemingly contradictory concepts of realism, imagination, structure and fluidity providing satisfaction of varying fashion appetites.

Bluefly July 3, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 5:19 pm

One of the most recognizable online shopping sites is Bluefly.com. The company originally began as a golf inspired clothing retailer, known as Pivot Corporation and later, Pivot Rules, Inc. In 1998, the seven year old company chose to pursue the path of online luxury brand retailer and at that time, Pivot Rules, Inc. changed its name to Bluefly. Fly meaning quick, nimble and adaptive (like the insect) and Blue because blue is considered a friendly color.

Sweet Meringue July 2, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 3:34 pm

Meringue Boutique is located on First Street in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The bright decor and branding captures the clothing lines and other items that can be found at this hot spot. In a relatively small space, one could spend quite a while discovering all of the chic pieces and other unique products. Meringue also has a great selection of stylish maternity wear and children’s clothing. Some of the pieces are so cute that you might find yourself in the maternity section without even realizing it. Check out their website for a full list of all of the lines they carry. Plus visit the store or the site this weekend and receive 20% off of selected merchandise. Meringue is the only store in Oregon that carries the insanely sweet Tarina Tarantino jewelry line. A NWPosh fave is her Carved Lucite Disc earrings that come in a wide variety of colors.
