Friday Model Monday - Biana Balti February 28, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 6:36 pm

Oh, my…Miss Biana, you are a Beauty! Balti was born in Italy in 1984. Shockingly, she was rejected by Elite before making it with another agency. (Yet another Stunner that goes to show you, you can’t go by what by one person or one group of people think of you. So take note, all you aspiring models, keep your head up!!) Balti’s stunning blue eyes are made even more striking by her contrasting dark features. She has the look of an exotic model but she is still incredibly versatile. She seems to have hit her peak around 2005 with Dolce & Gabbana and Missoni print ads, although she made several appearances on the runway during fashion week for Diesel and Miss Sixty.

Fendi Artist Baguette February 26, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 7:01 pm

Commerce has evolved to the point where consumers are constantly bombarded by options. The next logical progression is customization or personalization. We might not want to manufacturer the actual item but we do want to color it, paint it, de-constructed it, construct it…You get the idea, the options are limitless. This new dimension of the marketplace has affected companies ranging from Fendi to Starbucks. The most stylish of the customization trend is the Fendi Artist Baguette. This chic canvas comes with Pantone Markers so you can create your own version of what the Fendi bag should look like.

Model Monday-The Big Six February 17, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 7:12 pm

The original Supermodels consisted of Naomi, Linda, Christy, Claudia, Cindy and Elle. They were only known by their first names. This exclusive group also sometimes included Yasmin, Tatiana, Nadja, Stephanie Seymour, Karen Mulder and the young Kate Moss. Naomi’s appearance on a Michael Jackson fueled Super Bowl Sobe commercial marked the return of these legendary beauties. Claudia can be found in current Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Salvatore Ferragamo spreads. Not bad for the thirty seven year old fashion veteran. Christy Turlington makes a beautiful colorful appearance in the new Escada ads. Louis Vuitton ad’s features relative newcomer Angela Lindvall, Claudia, Naomi, Eva, Stephanie and an almost unrecognizable Natalia Vodianova. Then, there is Kate Moss, who not even the most horrendous of PR incidents can keep down, appears in Donna Karen, David Yurman and Longchamp. Expect to see more of the Supermodels. The new girls just don’t have the staying power. They are young. They make two or three years of appearances and then, that’s it. Most designers don’t want the highly recognizable models, it detracts from the clothing so they chose young, interchangeable faces. Today is not really so different from when the original Supermodels came to be. They face the same challenges, making a name for themselves among countless other beautiful women. This goes to show how incredible the women who only need their first names really are.

Model Monday - Abbey Lee February 10, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 4:05 pm

Abbey Lee is a blond haired, blue eyed beauty from Australia. Although she has scored a Nylon cover and print ads with D&G and H&M, she is still just a little under the radar. She has an exotic yet youthful innocence that is quite contradicted by her suggestive, full lips and intriguing, come hither eyes. She is currently signed with Next Models. Abbey Lee walked in Marc Jacobs’ show (that started on time!) at Fashion Week.

The House That Herve Built. February 5, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:42 pm

Max Azria, (you know, of BCBG) acquired Herve Leger in 1998 but it was only until last year, when the seasoned designer took over the design portion of the uber sexy fashion house. Herve Leger’s signature look is the bandage dress. Max Azria’s vision was consistent with the foundation that Herve built but he added his own accents that seem to embelish the already form hugging wraps.
