Christian Dior January 29, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:23 pm

Christian Dior’s 2008 Haute Couture is like Geisha by way of Futurama with a dash of 70’s modern flair. Or maybe it is what a lampshade might look like on a psychedelic acid trip. What ever this collection means to you, the clothes, the make-up and the over all development of the look is another breathtaking ensemble by John Galliano.

Model Monday - Natalia Vodianova January 28, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 6:59 pm

Most of the featured models on Model Mondays are up and comers but this week NWPosh Model Monday gives a shout out to an established catwalker, Natalia Vodianova. This Russian beauty got her start at the ripe age of 17 and she soon became the face of several major fashion houses. In addition to the insanely delicate features and symmetry that a geometrist or plastic surgeon only dream about, her svelte figure has already produced three children with her husband, Justin Portman. Natalia is featured in an amazing 12 page spread, One Fine Day, in the new Vogue.

NW Posh Spotted…Headbands January 27, 2008

Filed under: Fashion, Shopping — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:34 pm

Check out the new February Elle with Jessica Alba on the cover and not only will you read a fairly fascinating story about the mom to be but also page after page of inspirational Spring clothing and accessories. One running trend that could be seen throughout the mag was headbands. Headbands have been a popular accessory for some time now but it seems they are here to stay. From the Velvet Headband by Marc Jacobs or a hydrangea inspired headband by Sonia Rykiel, buy em’ often and buy em’ plenty…

And please take note of the new Chloe girl, she was the first model NW Posh covered, Ali Stephens. She’s on her way up!

Va Va Va…Versace.. January 24, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 8:49 pm

It is no secret that Versace embodies raw, brazen sexuality. Donatella did not fall short of this ideal this season. Elements of rich glamor and vibrant, full colors fused to create stunning pieces that not only accentuate women’s bodies but also seem to act as extensions of desired fullness.

Model Monday - Give me a shot of yeager…Leigh Yeager January 20, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:01 pm

Surprisingly, Leigh Yeager is a 22 year old, Kansas City native. Although, upon first glance, she looks much more European than Missourian. Her seemingly simple symmetrical features are spiced up with exotic coloring that produces a sexy allure. Her strong facial features provide a solid foundation and in turn, produce the ability to play up (or down) with her good looks.

She is currently signed with two agencies and she is in good company. Marilyn Agency in New York represents Irina Lazareanu and Han. Storm in London represents Alek Wek and Kate Moss.

She has been featured in the Armani Exchange Campaigns.

Happy Birthday Kate! January 17, 2008

Filed under: Fashion — Ivy Schnepp @ 9:24 pm

Call me crazy but I like Kate’s get up for one of her birthday celebrations. Actually, I love the star and the hair! The clothes, not so much. It reminds me of something you would find in Helena Bonham Carter’s closet. (See my previous entry on the popularity of Stars.) Even with the personal issues, Kate Moss is an incredible model.

Filed under: Cars — Ivy Schnepp @ 7:27 pm

Do you ever have that moment where you are cruising down the road, the sun is shining and you glance over and find yourself one lane over from your car being driving by someone else. The person is balding, overweight and frumpy. You start wondering why did I buy this damn car to begin with? Is that the kind of person who drives this type of car? Am I frumpy? Am I overweight? For a mere $181,000 you can purchase an automobile that you can almost guarantee you will never see its equal on the road, the Aston Martin DB9. The car speaks for itself…

Purchase the next Dali or Picasso… January 14, 2008

Filed under: Art — Ivy Schnepp @ 2:23 pm

I have this fantasy about art. It goes something like this…I discover the work of a starving artist type (because I have such a good eye!), I hang it in my house and years later that starving artist becomes big and famous and then I can say, “Oh, yes I have an original so and so.  I purchased it for just a few hundred dollars back in 2010.  Oh, you purchased yours for 1.2 million.” One website I have found that appears to have several promising art work, appealing to a wide variety of tastes is the Beholder. One of my favorites is Bob Bechtol. His work reminds me of Rothko. Visit the Beholder and check out Bob Bechtol’s work, among many others.
